The downside of that was that the seafood au gratin tasted fabulous while it was hot, but with the cool breeze and taking a few minutes for my salad, when I got back to the entree it lost the flavors I had originally tasted and got cold and lumpy, so I didn't get to enjoy as much of it as I had wanted. ![]() I wanted to eat my salad so put aside my seafood au gratin for a few minutes for that purpose. Unfortunately our entrees came out before the salad so that was kind of a "miss". He also ordered a salad as one side and garlic mashed potatoes as the other. My companion ordered the McAllister Platter which was a fried seafood combo with two sides as well. The Seafood Au Gratin has crab, scallops and shrimp in an au gratin mixture. Since there were only two of us we had quite a wait for an outdoor table but enjoyed the breeze and view so it didn't bother us much. We love the water and ambiance of the Intracoastal Waterway and Fish Tales has both. We loved the food, we loved the setting, the waitstaff was quick and eager to please - if we lived in the area, we'd go as often as our friends do.We drove from Savannah, for some reason having never been here before, and it was worth the drive. It is apparent to me that Fish Tales does not depend upon its restaurant for its income otherwise, they would be taking care of business. I hope it's the prior because people can be taught to cook. I think Fish Tales must have a chef who either literally does not know how to cook or does not care. Our mixed vegetables were unfortunately overdone. My other dining companion had the steamed shellfish and he said it was fine but it would have been so much better if it wasn't so greasy. It may have started out as a great piece of chicken but it came to our table tough and dry as any chicken I've ever tried. One of my fellow diners ordered baked chicken and it was virtually inedible. Obviously they do not know how to make blackened fish. We were all surprised and I didn't quite know what to say.
