![]() ![]() We usually walked down to the beach or Malecon and Uber'd home. Diving in the pool when you get home is a reward in itself. We enjoyed walking but it can be quite a climb if you take the wrong route. San Salvador isn't as intensively hilly as some other roads. and it's so close to home! I hear the burgers are fantastic. I stopped in for coffee but ended up ordering huevos rancheros.best food I ate all week. My sister and I thought we would cook.but when you can get meals like a whole roast chicken, potatoes, rice and tortillas for like $10CAD there is kind of no reason to cook ) My last day there I had breakfast at Sol de Luna on Calle San Salvador. There is everything you would need to cook a homemade meal. The appliances were all in great condition. The pool table upstairs looked great with the new felt. I toured the whole house and was equally impressed with all the rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. He is very well trained and his manners are impeccable. Peso does not bark, the roosters make more noise than he does. I liked watching them play, they never got out of hand. He is friends with Mer the cat (it has another name but I forget what it is). Peso is the most wonderful and tiniest Chihuahua I have ever met. Also, and probably most importantly.you need to know about Peso and Mer. I'm happy to call Rob and Whitney (hosts) and Rosario, (housemaid) my friends. Our stay was the BEST!!! The hosts here are friendly, helpful, generous and social but respectful of our privacy at the same time. I met up with her to relax and check out a couple of the local dog rescues. She went down a week early to take Spanish lessons. I joined her after she spent a week there solo. The mattress was more firm than I am used to but it was still very comfortable. The king size bed was perfect for the two of us. My sister booked the Frida room on the second floor with the french doors. Parking is on the right hand side of the highway. From Wahkeena Falls, head west apprximately 2.5 miles. Interstate 84 westbound (from Hood River): Take exit #35, keep going straight off the freeway, and take the Historic Highway just under 7.5 miles to the trailhead parking described above.Ĭolumbia River Highway approach: The trailhead is accessed from the historic highways. Hang a hard right right, heading west on the highway (signed for "Crown Point"), and then almost immediately take another right into the nice big parking area signed for Angel's Rest. Continue uphill about 0.3 mile to the intersection with the Historic Highway. Ignore the righthand turn to the post office. Getting ThereInterstate 84 eastbound (from Portland): Take exit #28 for Bridal Veil. You will get some fresh air and your heart rate up a bit, and still only be gone for about 3 hours! You really can't beat it. Or just drive out, power up and back, and head back home. Haul up some coffee or a lunch or some fine scotch, hunker down at the often windy top, and enjoy a world-class view of the western Gorge. The trail is not too steep, but it's enough to make for a nice little workout. What makes it so wonderful is that it is easy to get to it's hikeable year round the trail goes across landslides, over a creek, past a waterfall, through burned areas that now sport great autumn color, over some exposed rocks, and out to an amazing viewpoint all in under 2.5 miles one way and thanks to the burn and a handful of other ecological factors, the trail boasts a pretty high variety of plants that put on shows at different times of the year. What makes this hike so wonderful is not any sense of remoteness or wilderness (you can see and/or hear I-84 most of the hike). Just about 30 minutes from most parts of Portland lies a gem of a hike to Angel's Rest. ![]()
